  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens, Greece, November 1978.

  • M.S. in Electrical Engineering at Clemson University, Clemson, SC, May 1984.

  • Ph.D in Electrical Engineering at the University of Florida, Gainesville, FL, August 1987.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • Graduate Research Assistant, Clemson University, SC, January 1983 - May 1984. Working on the reliability aspects of bipolar silicon devices.
  • Graduate Research Assistant, University of Florida, August 1984-August 1987. Working on modeling and characterization techniques for silicon bipolar devices.
  • Visiting Assistant Professor in electrical engineering at the University of Florida from August 1987 to May 1989. Since June 1989 researcher at the Microelectronics Inst. NCSR "Demokritos

RESEARCH INTERESTS

  • Development of optical biosensors including monolithic optical imuunosensors and DNA sensors on Silicon.
  • Modeling, fabrication and experimental characterization techniques for bipolar devices and solar cells.
  • Design of CMOS VLSI low noise analog readout electronics for radiation imaging and spectroscopic systems.

Dr. Misiakos is the author or co-author of 80 publications in refereed international journals, of 42 communications in international conferences and holds three international patents on biosensors. He served as the coordinator of three European projects :  EU-BRITE III Project “BOEMIS” (1997-2000), EU-IST Project “BIOMIC” (2001-2004)  and the  EU-IST project "NEMOSLAB" (2006-2009), all in biosensors.
